@Pablo - definitely not - the sound of vinyl will always be different - it captures the sound in a completely different way - there's different physics at play behind that process.

Excellent review! I had been looking for the comparitive waveforms everywhere on the web. Interesting to see the difference. I was very pleased to get hold of the remasters late last year. However, I don't think I'd be alone in saying that it is hard to beat the warm tones of the original vinyls.
Good work!

Kinda late to the party, but didn't the 1987 CD have some noise reduction on it? That should at least show bigger differences betweem the remaster and the old CD.

To those who `That is why we are hearing a difference that you are not...`. Sorry, folks, but it seems you`re just have forced youreself to hear a `huge improvement` in sound of the 2009 stereo remaster `cause you`ve bought these expensive black box and were waiting for a miracle. Some people quite happy with their `Beatles in mono` 090909 boxes, Beatles 1987 stereo CD`s and are waiting for the Beatles stereo and 5.1 remixes which would be the only way to make the things better, probably.

Rob, are you planning to do something similar for the Lennon or upcoming McCartney remasters? I did a quick check on Woman from Double Fantasy. I have a mid ’90?s Capitol pressing, a 2000 re-issue with bonus tracks and the 2010 Stripped Down version, with the original mix as disc 2 (!?). There was also a Geffen records CD, I don’t have that one. After adjusting levels to 0.0 dB it appears to me that the original mid ’90?s pressing has the most dynamic range. The 2000 re-issue is the worst, and the 2010 remaster is somewhere in between. Strange Days Indeed!

Strangely enough my experience (dual quad 405/kef 105)is that the biggest difference is apparent when I am not formally listening - and that diff seems significant. Walk around the house and waft in and out of the listening room, catch the sound from the corridor etc and the overall impression is one of considerably more definition. Side by side it is definitely extremely subtle but I guess that is down to trying to use the conscious mind rather than subconscious cues. I am not sure whether some kind of aural exciters have been used to bring a false sense of presence but if not I think it is great job - to have added without apparently re interpreting the mix. I suggest a way of stimulating my what I experience is to physically move around as mentioned above - It seems to tune and stimulate one's phase sensitivity and that probably probably stumulates further spacial interpretation - - I think

Dear Christian,

I have the original US CD release of the White Album. It originally came in a long-box. Inside the long-box were two standard jewel cases with white CD trays. The CD labels are white with black writing. ‘Apple’ appears nowhere on the original releases. Additionally, the original US CD releases were individually numbered, just like the original LPs.

Here in Holland the White Album CD was originally released in a 2 CD jewel case, not 2 seperate ones. I bought it on the day it came out.

Hello I was just wondering, originally in 1987 the CD release of the White Album when each disc were in there own separate jewel case (before the double jewel case version). Has anyone ever seen them in the jewel cases with the black tray as opposed to the white trays?? Thanks!
