I like the original, heavy version of “Lake of Fire” on Meat Puppets II, but my favorite is Nirvana’s soulful Unplugged in New York version. Coincidentally, that’s the version I heard first. It features great vocals by Kurt Cobain and amazing, bluesy acoustic guitar playing by Curt Kirkwood. If I remember correctly, wasn’t he using a quarter as a pick?
